Poor Economy: What have you given up?
This week was rough on the American stock market and world economy. I have been reading numerous articles about people giving up things they once thought of as necessities. In the past two months, I have been forced to give up a few things, as well:
MY CAR: I have had my own car since I [...]

Family-friendly Sunday breakfast buffet: Souplantation
It has been a while since we have gone out to eat and it was Sunday. So, I figured we should try a Sunday brunch. Normally, one would not think of Souplantation as a place for breakfast, but, let me tell ya…it was fun-amenol! There were healthy veggies and fruits, as well as cereal, assorted [...]

Preschool anxiety
Jake is signed up to go to preschool next month. It will be the first time he will be away from home without us and I am a nervous wreck about it. Yes, I know it’s only 3 hours, for two days a week, but still, I just can’t help worrying about him. [...]

Passport in a flash
We’re planning to go to Vancouver, Canada sometime next year to visit Antonio’s sister, and we’ll be taking Tommy (our 6 year old). Last year the government started requiring a passport for travelers returning from Canada and Mexico, and the wait for a passport was so bad, it was making headlines.

Lion Sleeps Tonight…maybe
For his 3rd birthday, Jake received a new toddler bed as a gift from Grandma. We have been sharing a family bed for a while now, but now it is time to move on to the next step. Typically, our night-time routine goes like this: 9:00 pm brush teeth, say goodnight, and then 1 episode [...]

Being a Superwoman
I was listening to Rabbi Shmuley on the radio this morning. He was talking about women who try to be perfect (i.e. the “Superwoman”). His essential advice was to “stop trying to be perfect”. I took this very much to heart, especially considering…

Shopaholic’s guide to saving money online
I love to shop! Before I had kids, my shopping stamina was unsurpassed - I could literally shop all day long. After I had kids, my shopping stamina… well… remains untested. The problem is, my boys hate shopping. At least Tommy (my 6 year old) does. And shopping with a baby is not easy. What’s [...]

Food for a 1-Year-Old
Charlie is 1-year-old now. Mealtimes have become much more difficult. My little one is forming his own opinions and sharing them quite openly with me. If he sees a spoon filled with baby food moving toward his mouth, he swats it away with contempt (splattering it all over the place).
He only wants to eat what I’m eating.
“What’s that?” he asks, when…

Melissa and Doug toys
Shopping for toddler toys these days can be more stressful than fun. The toy aisles are stocked with all kinds of battery-operated, so-called educational playthings. One of my favorite line of toys are the “Melissa and Doug” toys. They are attractive to the little ones who can have hours of play without [...]

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
Why did I not hear about this until now?? Why??
I am a BIG fan of Neil Patrick Harris from his baby boy days on Clara’s Heart, to his Doogie Howser days, to his stint on Rent, to Harold and Kumar, to How I Met Your Mother.
So if you’re like me and you haven’t heard of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, here is a clip I found…
