Passport in a flash
We’re planning to go to Vancouver, Canada sometime next year to visit Antonio’s sister, and we’ll be taking Tommy (our 6 year old). Last year the government started requiring a passport for travelers returning from Canada and Mexico, and the wait for a passport was so bad, it was making headlines.
Our local post office was having a passport fair on a Saturday, a few weeks ago. So, to prevent any kind of disaster, we got a jump on it and applied for Tommy’s passport. And then we promptly forgot about it. Our expectations were pretty low, based on what we read in the papers last year. But, guess what we got in the mail 9 days later! It was Tommy’s passport! I could not believe it!
One interesting thing to note about kids passports - they are good for 5 years rather than the 10 years for adults. It makes perfect sense, since kids change so much in only 5 years. It would be pretty funny to see a 15 year old Tommy traveling with a 6 year old photo in his passport. “Yes, lady, that’s me - just imagine me without the ’stache and two front teeth missing”.
Look out Canada, here we come!
