Melissa and Doug Stacking Toy

Shopping for toddler toys these days can be more stressful than fun. The toy aisles are stocked with all kinds of battery-operated, so-called educational playthings. One of my favorite line of toys are the “Melissa and Doug” toys. They are attractive to the little ones who can have hours of play without breaking apart. Jake has a Melissa and Doug stacking toy that he has owned since he was 9 months old. To this day, he still loves to play with it. Not only has it helped him master stacking skills, improving his coordination. Now that he is 3 years old, he uses it to count the pieces as he stacks them and also to identify colors and shapes. The best part is that even though it is more than 2 years old and has received share of dings and bumps, the toy has held up great through all the wear and tear. Nothing has splintered, broken off, or peeled off. Compared to other similar toys, the M&D line does cost a little more. However, they will easily prove their worth over time. Melissa and Doug toys rock!
