Slydial.com - Directly Connected to Voicemail
Have you heard of www.slydial.com? It’s a service that allows you to dial a mobile phone number and go directly to the voicemail for the line with no concern that you will have to actually speak to the individual you are calling. Sly, huh? The website suggests it can be used in a variety of situations, including being short on time, avoiding an awkward situation, and not wanting to bother someone.
Some of you might be thinking, “How rude!”
But, some of the examples on the website are pretty good:
“You just remembered that it is your friend’s birthday. You want to call her but it is really late and you don’t know if she is still up. Don’t take the chance that you might awake her from her beauty sleep. Instead just leave her a sweet voicemail with warm wishes and a promise of a belated birthday drink.”
“Your Aunt June sent you a sweater for your birthday. You need to call her to thank her but you don’t want to listen to her go on and on about her recent hip replacement. Instead just leave her an appreciative voicemail that she can share with her bridge club.”
“You are working on a dozen different projects and have as many calls to return. Instead of being stuck on the phone with just one, leave each a voicemail with an update and you may just have enough time to enjoy Happy Hour.”
Sweet! I’m in!
I am the type of person who avoids phone conversations constantly. If I don’t want to speak to someone on the phone, I will avoid the call, send an email, wait until the evening hours when I know the person won’t answer, etc. This concept is PERFECT for me!
My husband likes this idea for returning phone calls to his relatives who try to guilt-trip him into calling.
How does it work? According to the website, slydial is absolutely free and you don’t have to sign up in order to use it:
- Dial 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone.
- At the voice prompt, enter the U.S. mobile phone number of the person you want to slydial.
- You will be directly connected to their voicemail. Leave them a voicemail, sit back and relax.
I think I’m going to give it a try this weekend to call back my girlfriend who talks way too much!
