Wipeout - July 1, 2008
This week’s episode of ABC’s Wipeout was once again a fun-filled bag of laughs with plenty of lame contestants and hilarious commentary by comedian John Henson. One of my favorite lines of the night:
It’s gonna take Blaire, Joe and Tootie to pull Natalie up. - John Henson
The very first contestant, Andrew Pagana showed up wearing an Indiana Jones hat and touting, “I hate sports.” Uh…then what are you doing on a show obviously designed for an athlete? According to Henson, “he actually promised to wear the hat the entire time.” And he definitely did his best to keep it on…with little success. At one point, Pagana was attempting to run up a non-moving ramp and failing miserably. Henson’s commentary almost made me shoot soda out of my nose, “that treadmill is moving at a blistering pace.”
Julie Orsani immediately started out with an annoying quality, baby stepping her way down the first ramp squealing, “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god…” Lame! If you’re going on this show at least have the balls to run down the first ramp and fall on your ass into the water like everyone else.
And then there were the cougars…
There was the woman in her 50’s who boldly stated she has a boyfriend 20 years younger. When she fell head first into the mud trying to get past the Sucker Punch, Henson commented, “That cougar jumped into that mud like Ashton Kutcher was in it.”
And then there was the funny comments of contestant Jim Wakefield (the night’s winner). After the initial run, he turned to the camera and said, “There’s something about those big balls.” And when asked how he felt about the final run of the night, he said, “I’m gonna try not to poo in my wetsuit” followed by a huge, cheesy grin that would make any woman swoon. 
All-in-all another funny episode worth watching on a boring Tuesday night.
