If Only Food Came in a Pill…

Posted June 24th, 2008 by Sophia

Let’s face it, figuring out what to eat when you’re on a diet can suck. When picking a meal feels like a chore, the seemingly simple act of eating quickly loses it’s appeal. Trust me, I like to eat…otherwise I wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place. I would never wish away our sacred mealtime if [...]

Decaffeinated

Posted June 24th, 2008 by Sophia

Today I went decaffeinated in an attempt to see if the caffeine was what made my blood pressure skyrocket yesterday. It seems to be suspect. I took my blood pressure today and it had dropped to:

Systolic: 124
Diastolic: 89

Whew…R-E-L-I-E-F !
(Many of you may recognize this better as R-O-L-A-I-D-S…but I’m not talking about heartburn.)
Only one problem — I have [...]

Blood Pressure Rising…

Posted June 23rd, 2008 by Sophia

As previously mentioned, the 3 Mommies have started a new weight loss and lifestyle program. As part of this program, we took our blood pressure today with Mommy Melinda’s blood pressure machine. Here are our results:
Mommy Anna:

Systolic: 104
Diastolic: 72
Pulse: 66

Good job, Anna!
Mommy Melinda:

Systolic: 140
Diastolic: 92
Pulse: 92

Mommy Sophia:

Systolic: 144 (uh…that’s not a typo…I did it twice)
Diastolic: [...]

Staples Doesn’t Have…Uh…Staples?

Posted June 23rd, 2008 by Sophia

A few years ago, Chris and I were working on a large project together. We needed some heavy duty staples for our heavy duty stapler. We considered the various stores that might carry them: Office Depot, Target, WalMart…STAPLES! Of course! Duh! We drove the 25 minutes to the nearest Staples store, walked in, found the [...]

We have a tooth!

Posted June 21st, 2008 by Anna

Today, one of my closest friends from work had a baby shower. Antonio took the kids to his parents house. Before they left, I packed a supermarket bag full of everything I thought they would need. Does everyone feel like they need to rent a U-Haul truck when they pack baby stuff for a day [...]

Laryngomalacia

Posted June 21st, 2008 by Sophia

My son, Charlie was born with laryngomalacia. He was born in July of 2007 via a scheduled c-section due to his breech position. He cried immediately, a very strong cry. However, a few hours after he was born they said his breathing was a little fast so they did some blood work and a chest [...]

GERD, part 2

Posted June 20th, 2008 by Anna

In my earlier post on how baby Ike got diagnosed with GERD, I left off when Ike’s condition improved considerably with Prilosec. I was overjoyed. But he would still have some days when I questioned whether the Prilosec was working at all. I had seen the light. I knew what a wonderful happy baby he [...]

Posted June 20th, 2008 by Melinda

In my constant effort to find ways of getting back into shape, I bought a Wii Fit. For those of you who do not know, a Wii is a video game console made by the good folks at Nintendo. Some of you may be thinking, “Come on, Mels, aren’t you a little ‘old’ [...]
