Deep Breathing

Posted June 24th, 2008 by Sophia

Okay…get your minds out of the gutter. I’m talking about stress-reduction here. I have often found that during my more stressful moments in life, it helps to just STOP and take some deep breaths.

As mommies, we are constantly running. Running to work, running to pick up our kids, running to the grocery store, running to the doctor’s office, running after our kids, running out of steam, running late…

(BTW: Why doesn’t all this running keep me skinny???)

Today was one of *those* days. You know, those days when you never quite get it together, you feel tired, you have cramps (yeah…one of those days), your head hurts, your body hurts…but you still have to take care of the kids, get them to daycare, go to work, eat healthy, find time to exercise, drive home (in traffic), stop at the grocery store because you don’t have everything you need to make dinner, pick up the kids from daycare, get home, make dinner, feed the kids, get them baths, get them in bed…

On top of all that, I decided to cut out caffeine today. Bad move.

Today required more than a few deep breaths.

Yes, deep breathing can help us mommies, especially when the moment is so trying we want to swat baby-hypermobile in the rump. I think that whole “count to ten” idea is for us to regroup and come up with a better strategy for dealing.

Oh, and don’t you just love it when hubby/Sig. Other insists that we have the easy life, and his life is ten times more stressful? ;)
