My 10-Month-Old is a Carb-Aholic
I always thought carb addiction was relegated to us women — not only for those all-too-tempting moments during that “special” (although there’s nothing much special about it) time of the month — but, if we had our way (and the world was perfect), for every moment of every day. I mean, who doesn’t love bread, sugar, rice, and potatoes? (Can I get an “Amen”?!)
But, alas! My 10-Month-Old son is a Carb-Aholic! He loves (can’t get enough of) the small pieces of bread or toast I drop down onto his high chair tray as if he were a duck in the neighborhood pond (if you live in that kind of neighborhood) and I were the Almighty Human raining manna from above. He eats it up. Of course, I am not an Almighty Human. And my son is much cuter than a duck (and ducks are pretty damn cute). But, he loves his bread. If he runs out, there is hell to pay.
However, the bread doesn’t even come close to his addiction to the little, crunchy, cheese flavored “puffs” you can find in most grocery store baby food aisles. These little cheesy puffs have saved me during those more difficult feeding moments…when he wants to feed himself…but he still doesn’t quite have that whole “spoon to mouth” thing down yet. I highly suggest these little, cheesy, crunchy gifts to us mommies from the baby gods.
Happy Carb Munching!
