Mommy, what’s my name?

Posted May 28th, 2008 by Anna

How likely is the scenario of a child not knowing his own name? Well, if it’s at all possible, it’s going to happen to my youngest son. Since he was born, we’ve been calling him every kind of a cutesy name we can think of. In addition to every diminutive of his own name, he’s also been Babykins, Mr. Baby, El Bebe, The Great Babini, Chunky Cheeks, Chunky Monkey, Chunky Munk, Munker, Munkerz, etc. You get the idea. I never gave this a second thought. Until that is, grandma picked him up and after talking at him for a few minutes said: “I think he really recognizes his name!” Ha! Not too damn likely! Note to self - call your son by his own name at least once a day.
